12 teams to contend for championship at annual Pearsall tourney

MAVERICK CLASSIC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Twenty-two teams will be in contention for the team titles in the boys’ and girls’ divisions at the annual Maverick Classic Basketball Tournament November 21-23 at Pearsall.
Pearsall, SA Burbank, Cotulla, Crystal City, SA Edison, Laredo Harmony, SA Cole, Carrizo Springs, SA Memorial, the Pearsall JV, Laredo Cigarroa and Somerset Academy will compete in the boys’ division in Pool Play on Thursday, November 21 and move on to bracket play on Friday and Saturday.
Pearsall will take on Burbank at 1 p.m. on Thursday and then face Cotulla at 7 p.m. Prior to facing Pearsall, Cotulla will take on Burbank at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Pearsall, Hondo, Cotulla, Somerset Academy, Charlotte, St. Anthony, Dilley, Lutheran High School, Comfort and Holy Cross will be competing for the girls’ title at the event and will likewise compete in pool play on Thursday and Friday before bracket play begins on Saturday.
Pearsall will take on Somerset Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday morning and then hit the court against Cotulla at 5:30 p.m. They Lady Mavs will face Hondo at 11:30 a.m. on Friday and close the day against Charlotte at 7 p.m.
The Lady Wolves will open play at 8:30 a.m. in the auxiliary gym against St. Anthony then take on Lutheran at 1 p.m. at the Pearsall Junior High gym. Dilley will then take on Comfort at 1 p.m. and Holy Cross at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Cotulla will take on Charlotte at the junior high at 2:30 p.m. prior to face Pearsall at 5:30 p.m. The Cowgirls then face Somerset Academy at 10 a.m. Friday morning and meet Hondo at 4 p.m. to close the day.
Bracket play games are scheduled for 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
