Luciano A. Rodriguez, a longtime resident of Pearsall, died on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at 6:45 a.m. in his home. He was born to Luciano A. Rodriguez and Julia A. Rodriguez in Parras Coahuila, Mexico.
Luciano was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and five grandchildren Juan Jose Rodriguez, Rito Eleazar Rodriguez, Roy Ruben Frausto, Leo S. Rodriguez and Luciano Rodriguez III.
He is survived by his brother Francisco Rodriguez of Parras Coah., Rosalinda Frausto (Ruben) of Pearsall, sons Eulogio Rodriguez (Juany) of Moore, Luciano Rodriguez (Juanita), Ruben Rodriguez, Rene Rodriguez (Norma) Rito Rodriguez and Roy Rodriguez (Estella) all from Pearsall, 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
He arrived in the U.S. at the age of 19 at Lepanto Arkansas as a “Bracero” through a US/Mexico program. He was one of millions contracted. Bracero referred to the strong arms of the Mexican migrant seasonal workers that came to fulfill a need.
He came in Derby, in January 1962, with his wife Julia and three children, Eulogio, Rosalinda and Luciano Jr.
He worked as a ranch hand, a vaquero, and in agriculture for over 55 years. He also served as a Baptist Minister in Pearsall and Asherton.
A private graveside service was held Friday, April 10 in the Frio County Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hurley Funeral Home, Pearsall.
