Rosa Cantu Zapata

Rosa Cantu Zapata, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026 in Cotulla. She was born in Dilley on March 21, 1937.

She is preceded in death by daughter Odessa Arebalo, and her son, Leonardo Arebalo Jr.

Rosa is survived by her daughter Elsa Mata (Joel), and by her cherished grandchildren, Andrea A. Carabajal, Carlos Arebalo, Rigo Arebalo, Joseph Mata, Odessa Mata and Ruben Gauna. Rosa’s legacy continues to shine through numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her devoted brother, Gil Cantu Jr.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 16 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Treviño Royal Oaks Funeral Home in Dilley.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Treviño Royal Oaks Funeral Home, Dilley.
